Imogene Pass
Imogene Pass is the second-highest peak in Colorado and is
home to some beautiful off-road trails. The seventeen-mile path near Telluride
and Tomboy is about 13,000 feet above sea level.
The town of Tomboy is especially intriguing, as it is a ghost
town that was prominent during the mining era of the late-nineteenth century. The
town is among the many ghost towns you will visit while on some of the off-road
trails throughout the state. You'll also find many hills and other features
around this place when looking around to see what's open.
Mosquito Pass
You can also try the Mosquito Pass if you're looking for
something that is a little higher up. Mosquito Pass is about 13,200 feet above
sea level, making it the highest road in the state. The road travels between
the towns of Leadville and Fairplay.
Mosquito Pass is not the easiest road to travel. It is only
open during the summer season, as the road may be too dangerous during other
times in the year. But those who can successfully get through the Mosquito Pass
will certainly deserve anyone's respect. The jagged hills and tough curves of
the road make it a real challenge for anyone to explore when looking for a
thrilling place for driving.
